Nine years and counting: the Vision team once again supported the Otago Polytech Charity House. The project is a win-win-win as a hands-on project for Otago Polytechnic carpentry students, an affordable, fully furnished home for the new owners, and a significant benefit to Otago-based nonprofit organisations. Around $115,000 of the proceeds were donated to the Catalytic Foundation this year, which will distribute funds to local charities.
As in previous years, the Vision team proudly supported the charity home, installing an audio-visual system worth $5,000 free of charge. The home's new owners will be able to enjoy their 4 way TV distribution system consisting of a 65” Panasonic 4K TV on an Omp Tilt Wall Mount and a Panasonic 2.1ch 360w Dolby Atmos Soundbar with Wireless Sub Woofer.
Fetching a record $325,000 last year, this year's auction broke the previous record, with the house selling for $365,000. The new owners Graham and Stella MacGregor said being able to make the donation was a big part of why they went for the house. Buying a pre-built house and moving it would be more environmentally friendly than building on-site. The home would be installed in Clyde, where it would have some ‘‘amazing views’’, Mrs MacGregor said.
